What is Veganism?

The Church of Veganism defines “Veganism” as:

Veganism is a way of living that seeks to exclude, as far as possible and practicable, all forms of the exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing, sport, entertainment, experimentation (including vivisection), and any other exploititive purpose.

What is a Vegan?

There is sometimes confusion about what it means to be Vegan and that confusion is in relation to the definition of Veganism. To clarify, by definition, if you are not Vegan for the animals, you are not a Vegan. Veganism is not a dietary choice, Veganism is a philosophy born from the rights of animals and is an ethical way of living. For Relons, Veganism is a required daily practice of the Relonism religion.

Veganism is an ethical lifestyle choice which openly opposes the differential treatment and discrimination of non-human sentient beings based on species.

The numerous associated health benefits one is likely to gain by consuming a whole foods plant-only diet is a welcome benefit of becoming Vegan, as are the positive environmental benefits for those with an eco-conscious mindset. However these benefits are simply consequential to being Vegan, they are not the reason one chooses a Vegan lifestyle.

Those who become Vegan for health or environmental reasons might identify themselves as Vegan because they consume a Vegan diet. There is ongoing debate within the Vegan community about what it means to be Vegan. Those who are Vegan for the animals differentiate themselves from other self-identified Vegans by identifying as Ethical Vegans.

Relonism is the next logical step along the spiritual journey of the Ethical Vegan.

The primary difference between a Vegan and a Relon, is that anybody can claim they are Vegan, whether they actually are or not, whereas there is no confusion about what is required to become a Relon.
